Small Town, Big Talk

Sun Valley may be a small town best known as a resort destination, but five times a year, this small town promotes some big talk.  We live in complicated times. You can’t pick up a newspaper or turn on the television without being inundated by news that we live in an increasingly challenging world.

The Sun Valley Global Affairs Forum brings leading foreign policy experts and humanitarian activists to Sun Valley to speak on some of the most pressing issues of the day. Over the past four years, the forum has hosted a respectable list of speakers: Pulitzer Prize-winning NY Times journalist Eric Schmitt; 3-Star Vice Admiral Robert S. Harward, Deputy Commander of US Central Command; Dr. Kiron Skinner, Director of Carnegie Mellon University’s Center for International Relations and Politics and a research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, to name a few. Topics have ranged from “Homeland Security” and “The New U.S./Cuba Relationship” to “The Future of Nuclear Weapons” and “To Drone or Not to Drone.”

The Sun Valley Forum offers small, intimate dinners where members have the chance to listen to and then ask questions of leaders in the field of foreign policy, contemporary politics, and national security.  These informal conversations are the perfect setting for members to enhance their knowledge of global issues.  Sun Valley is populated by successful, sophisticated, and creative people who care deeply about their role as global citizens.  The Sun Valley Global Affairs Forum is an ideal venue to promote active engagement in a larger global conversation.
